  Short Throw ProjectorsShort throw projectors, or “Laser TVs” are the hottest new tech for large TV displays over the relatively affordable 85-86” size range. Typically, TVs over the 85-86” size well exceed $10-20,000, and 110” TVs can cost a staggering $100,000 (or more!), but short throw projectors combine the convenience of placing your “TV” near the desired viewing wall, keeping cables conveniently close to your input devices, and displaying a beautiful 4K image of up to 120” on the wall directly above it. Unlike traditional projectors that require cabling through the ceiling to the ceiling-mounted or rear-mounted projector location, short throw projectors can be placed on top of the credenza or furniture below your TV wall, where they shine their image up, rather than ahead. What’s the Matter?Matter is a new home automation protocol that Apple, Google, and Amazon came together to develop to standardize and combat the lack of unification across devices over the past decade. Hundreds of businesses like Samsung, LG, and more are on board, and this means regardless of the platform you first adopted (Alexa, Zigbee, Lutron, Wi-Fi, etc.), it gives you freedom to shop for the latest smart devices you want to integrate, regardless of the platform you first adopted. Amazon announced at CES 2023 that it would do a full rollout by this Spring, bringing Matter to new Echo products and pushing over-the-air updates to most existing Echo devices as well. Additionally, support will be extended to a wider array of connected devices like thermostats, light bulbs, and smart plugs. Samsung said that all of its 2022 smart TVs will be updated to become Matter controllers in March, with new Samsung devices in 2023 and beyond coming with Matter as standard.  A New Way to Monitor Your VehiclesAnother big announcement at CES 2023 came from Ring, which debuted it’s newest Ring Car Cam, it’s first entry into the vehicle market, attempting to shake up the otherwise underwhelming array of offerings that make it difficult to ensure your dash cam is recording, requiring use of hard to use microSD cards, and flaky operating systems that are hard to navigate. The Ring Car Cam comes with 24/7 monitoring, cell connection to your Ring cloud account, and two HD cameras with night vision to monitor the inside and outside of your vehicle. Like all Ring cameras, the Ring Car Cam comes with 2-Way Talk. The Ring Car Cam will be released on February 15, 2023, and all the Praetas vehicles will have them installed shortly thereafter.
